About me
I’m 57 and spent most of my working life in IT development. It was a career I didn’t plan - I wanted to be a journalist when I left school, I did the training and worked as a reporter and in PR for a while before I got married the first time - to a road engineer.
My career got left on the hard shoulder of a motorway somewhere as we moved around for a number of years. By the time we settled, the computer age was beginning and I re-trained.
I had a glandular fever virus in 2001/2002 that left me with something like ME and a hormonal problem I’d had since childhood suddenly worsened at menopause and I couldn’t work.
thought I’d retired till my second marriage broke up and was pitchforked back into trying to find work again. After battling with illness, depression and a great deal of age discrimination I decided to try and make my living online and slowly, I’m succeeding.
I run a number of moneymaking blogs and several online/MLM businesses - the other blogs are linked from this one in the blogroll - Pushing the Angry Button, My Greetings To You and Hot Choc Profits.
I followed in my mother’s and grandmother’s footsteps regarding food and cooking, as some of my posts illustrate, but life is a constant exploration of all the cuisines of those who have made Britain their home and beyond.
I strongly believe in the principles of organic farming Fair Trade, and animal welfare, the Prince of Wales is my hero - he has done so much to promote these ideals.
When this particularly sticky and difficult time in my life is resolved, I may well head out on the road to find new edible subjects to blog about in different parts of Britain.
